About Our Techniques

Each therapist has their own specialties, her you can learn more about modalities and how they work.

Swedish Massage

Swedish massage is a gentle massage form focused on the body's superficial layers. It uses light pressure and hydrating oils to soften surface tension and move blood and fluid to help the body relax and calming. Swedish massage has been shown to help increase circulation, calm the nervous system, aid in digestion, and assist in lymph function.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue uses a wide variety of techniques to work on the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue. This style uses much heavier pressure and very little oil. It is used to adjust postural issues, pain, tight muscle and relax over used tissue.

Point (Acupressure) Therapy

Pressure point massage is a form of massage therapy that uses specific pressure points to target areas of the body. This type of massage is believed to be able to release tension and improve circulation throughout the body. It also helps to relieve pain and reduce stress. The pressure points are typically located in the hands, feet, and ears.

Trigger Point Therapy

A trigger point massage is a type of massage therapy that targets myofascial trigger points. These are tiny cramps inside your muscle tissue that create discomfort and pain. The goal of trigger point massage is to locate those active trigger points and encourage them to “calm down”

Cuppling Therapy

Cupping is based in Chinese Medical Theory and has been incorporated into modern massage work with Soma Cupping. In our sessions we use hard plastic and silicon cups to create negative pressure on the underlying tissue freeing up fascial adhesions and promoting lymphatic drainage. Stubborn trigger points (tender spots) can be relieved by placing a massage cup on irritated muscles for just a few seconds and placing cups in patterns over the body can free up postural restrictions.

Cups can be applied to a single body area for muscular issues or used in larger patterns to lengthen the fascial net depending on the client's needs. They can also be placed in static positions or moved as needed.

Cupping can leave short term marks on the skin as it draws damaged cells and stagnant blood to the surface allowing the body to clear them. These marks can last up to a week.

Medical Massage

Medical sessions are designed for assessment and single issue soft tissue adjustment. Medical massage is outcome-based massage, primarily the application of a specific treatment targeted to the specific problem. The patient presents with a diagnosis and are administered after a thorough assessment/evaluation by the therapist with specific outcomes being the basis for treatment.

Esalen Massage

Esalen massage was developed in the 1960s in Big Sur, California, at the Esalen Institute. It is known for its healing and nurturing touch. Combining long strokes, gentle rocking and stretching, sculpting of deep musculature and the precision of acupressure. Esalen massage helps the body release holding patterns and creates a sense of full body relaxation.

PNF (Propreoceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation

PNF consists of a series of passive stretching and isometrics used to improve flexibility, range of motion, biomechanics as well as to prevent overuse injury of muscles and joints.
